25.5 DIRECTION Pin
The DIRECTION pin outputs a low level while data is being written to an external ATA device by
this LSI.
To be specific, the DIRECTION pin goes low at:
• PIO data transfer to an ATA device
• Multiword DMA transfer (data-out)
• Ultra DMA data-in CRC transmission
• Ultra DMA transfer data-out

25.6 Usage Note
When using the ATAPI module, set the frequencies of the bus clock and the peripheral clock so
that their ratio is 2:1.
