System BIOS
4. System BIOS
This section details the functionality and features supported by the Intel® Server Board
SE7210TP1-E Basic Input/Output System (BIOS), which is based on an AMI 8.0 core
architecture. The BIOS is implemented as firmware that resides in a Flash ROM. It provides
hardware-specific initialization algorithms and standard PC-compatible basic input/output (I/O)
services, and standard Intel server board features. The Flash ROM also contains firmware for
certain embedded devices.
The SE7210TP1-E BIOS is comprised of the following components:
• IA-32 core BIOS. This component contains most of the standard services and
components found in an IA-32 system, such as the PCI Resource manager, ACPI
support, POST, and RUNTIME functionality.
• Server BIOS extensions: Support for the National Semiconductor PC87431 integrated
management controller and Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI).
• Processor Microcode Updates: The BIOS also includes latest processor microcode
updates.
The following table provides a list of all the features supported by the system BIOS.
