ID10 â ID3 â Identiï¬er bits
The identiï¬er consists of 11 bits (ID10 â ID0). ID10 is the most signiï¬cant bit and is transmitted ï¬rst
on the bus during the arbitration procedure. The priority of an identiï¬er is deï¬ned to be highest for
the smallest binary number. The three least signiï¬cant bits are contained in the TRTDL register.

ID2 â ID0 â Identiï¬er bits
These bits contain the least signiï¬cant bits of the transmit buffer identiï¬er.
RTR â Remote transmission request
1 (set) â A remote frame will be transmitted.
0 (clear) â A data frame will be transmitted.
DLC3 â DLC0 â Data length code bits.
The data length code contains the number of bytes (data byte count) of the respective message.
At transmission of a remote frame, the data length code is ignored, forcing the number of bytes to
be 0. The data byte count ranges from 0 to 8 for a data frame. Table 5-6 shows the effect of setting
the DLC bits.
