HDMI
The High-Definition Multimedia
Interface (HDMI) is an industry-
supported, uncompressed, all-
digital audio/video interface.
HDMI provides a connection
between any compatible digital
audio/video source, such as a
set-top box, DVD player, or A/V
receiver and a compatible digital
audio and/or video monitor, such
as a digital television (DTV). For
this application Agilent provides
a complete test solution, i.e. the
Agilent TMDS Signal Generator.
Its hardware is based on ParBERT
and the test SW is based on the
N5990A Test Automation
Software Platform.

ParBERT provides the data
channels D0, D1 and D2 to cover
the three colors green, red and
blue. The fourth channel D- is
used as intra-pair skew channel
to provide additional skew testing
capability between normal and
complementary data as defined
in the HDMI standard.
A clock signal is also provided.
The SW guides the user through
the test set-up (figure 17), allows
the definition of ParBERT data
packets in user terms with its
“HDMI Frame generator” and
performs automated measure-
ment of the full HDMI jitter
tolerance curve.
