1 Arria II devices only support remote system upgrade in the single device AS
configuration scheme.
Figure 9â22 shows a block diagram for implementing a remote system upgrade with
the Arria II configuration scheme.

Note to Figure 9â22:
(1) Arria II GX devices use the AS configuration scheme while Arria II GZ devices use the fast AS configuration scheme.
You must set the mode select MSEL[3..0] pins to AS mode to use the remote system
upgrade feature for Arria II GX devices and the MSEL[2..0] pins to fast AS mode to
use the remote system upgrade feature for Arria II GZ devices.
1 The MSEL pin settings vary for different configuration voltage standards and POR
delays. To connect MSEL[3..0] for an Arria II GX device, refer to Table 9â6 on
page 9â9. To connect MSEL[2..0] for an Arria II GZ device, refer to Table 9â7 on
page 9â10.
1 When using AS mode, you must select remote update mode in the Quartus II
software and insert the ALTREMOTE_UPDATE megafunction to access the circuitry.
For more information, refer to âALTREMOTE_UPDATE Megafunctionâ on page 9â60.
