Serial Communications Peripherals
The TM4C129LNCZAD controller supports both asynchronous and synchronous serial
communications with:
â 10/100 Ethernet MAC with Advanced IEEE 1588 PTP hardware and both Media Independent
Interface (MII) and Reduced MII (RMII) support; integrated PHY provided
â Two CAN 2.0 A/B controllers
â USB 2.0 Controller OTG/Host/Device with optional high speed using external PHY through ULPI
interface
â Eight UARTs with IrDA, 9-bit and ISO 7816 support.
â Ten I2C modules with four transmission speeds including high-speed mode
â Four Quad Synchronous Serial Interface modules (QSSI) with bi- and quad-SSI support
The following sections provide more detail on each of these communications functions.
Ethernet MAC and PHY (see page 1552)
The TM4C129LNCZAD Ethernet Controller consists of a fully integrated media access controller
(MAC) and network physical (PHY) interface with the following features:
â Conforms to the IEEE 802.3 specification
â 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX IEEE-802.3 compliant
â Supports 10/100 Mbps data transmission rates
â Supports full-duplex and half-duplex (CSMA/CD) operation
â Supports flow control and back pressure
â Full-featured and enhanced auto-negotiation
â Supports IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tag detection
â Conforms to IEEE 1588-2002 Timestamp Precision Time Protocol (PTP) protocol and the IEEE
1588-2008 Advanced Timestamp specification
â Transmit and Receive frame time stamping
â Precision Time Protocol
â Flexible pulse per second output
â Supports coarse and fine correction methods
â Multiple addressing modes
â Four MAC address filters
â Programmable 64-bit Hash Filter for multicast address filtering
