The PPULSE_LEN field sets the width of all IR LED pulses within
the proximity cycle. Longer pulses result in increased proximity
range and typically result in less electrical noise generated in
the analog front end. However, a setting of 8μs is recommended
because less cumulative noise is generated during a proximity
cycle.
The PPULSE field sets the maximum number of IR LED pulses
that may occur in a proximity cycle. The proximity engine will
automatically continue to add IR LED pulses, up to the value set
in PPULSE or if a near-saturation condition occurs.
The dynamic range of the sensor is automatically adjusted to
detect distant targets as well as prevent saturation from close
targets.
This operation also reduces power consumption because
proximity integration period is automatically shortened when
a target is either to close or far from the sensor.
