HAC 830
The sensor is designed for hostile industrial and automotive applications and is
AECQ100 qualified. It operates with typically 5 V supply voltage in the ambient tem-
perature range from ï40 °C up to 150 °C. It is available in the very small 3-pin pack-
age TO92UP-2.
1.1. General Features
â High-precision linear Hall-effect sensor with 12 bit ratiometric analog output and digital
signal processing
â Multiple programmable magnetic characteristics in a non-volatile memory (EEPROM)
with redundancy and lock function
â Integrated capacitors for improved Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and PCB-
less applications
â Operates from ï40 °C up to 150 °C ambient temperature
â Operates from 4.5 V up to 5.5 V supply voltage in specification and functions up to
8.5 V
â Operates with static magnetic fields and dynamic magnetic fields up to 2 kHz
â Programmable magnetic field range from ï±30 mT up to ï±150 mT
â Open-circuit (ground and supply line break detection) with 5 kï pull-up and pull-down
resistor, overvoltage and undervoltage detection
â For programming an individual sensor within several sensors in parallel to the same
supply voltage, a selection can be done via the output pin
â Temperature characteristics are programmable for matching common magnetic mate-
rials
â Programmable clamping function
â Programming via modulation of the supply voltage
â Overvoltage- and reverse-voltage protection at all pins
â Magnetic characteristics extremely robust against mechanical stress
â Short-circuit protected push-pull output
â EMC and ESD optimized design
1.2. Applications
Due to the sensorâs versatile programming characteristics and low temperature drift, the
HAC 830 is the optimal system solution for PCB-less applications such as:
â Pedal, turbo-charger, throttle and EGR systems
â Distance measurements
