DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTIONS
The MPU Interface
Selecting the Interface Type
With the SED1565 Series chips, data transfers are done
through an 8-bit bi-directional data bus (D7 to D0) or
through a serial data input (SI). Through selecting the P/
S terminal polarity to the âHâ or âLâ it is possible to
select either parallel data input or serial data input as
shown in Table 1.

The Parallel Interface
When the parallel interface has been selected (P/S =
âHâ), then it is possible to connect directly to either an
8080-system MPU or a 6800 Series MPU (as shown in
Table 2) by selecting the C86 terminal to either âHâ or
to âLâ.

Moreover, data bus signals are recognized by a
combination of A0, RD (E), WR (R/W) signals, as
shown in Table 3.
