17. Note to various chip releases
The following is a list of notes and deviations of the effective chip performance to the data in this data sheet.
17.1. epc901-007 up to -016, -018, -020, -021, -022, -023
• The chips with these version numbers do not go into the power-down mode as long as processes are active, e.g. if the tempera -
ture sensor is activated, the power-down mode is ignored. Since the temperature sensors are turned on by default, the chips will
never go into power-down without turning the temperature sensors off by the I2C command.
• Video amplifier instability for higher gain-bandwidth product settings: Use only lowest gain-bandwidth product setting
(VIDEO_GBW_SEL_REG = 0x00).
• Read direction from 0 to 1023 (RD_DIR = 0) not working.
• The chips with these version numbers are not suitable for usage with a 1.8V ADC for following reasons:
◦ When the video amplifier is idle, the outputs VIDEO_P and VIDEO_N go to the VDDOA rails i.e. 0V and 3V typical. This
typically violates the maximum input voltage of 1.8V ADCs. From version -031, VIDEO_P and VIDEO_N go to the common-
mode during idle.
◦ The video amplifier does not work reliably at VIDEO_CM = 0.9V plus/minus a tolerance, typically the common-mode level
used for 1.8V ADCs
• Voltage difference between VIDEO_P and VIDEO_N resp. voltage on VIDEO_P (see Figure 13 and Figure 14 for reference)

• The solder balls on the solder pads have a diameter of 270 ±20 µm.
17.2. epc901-007 up to -016, -018, -020, -021, -022
• Single-ended mode does not start-up properly.
17.3. epc901-016
• The output bandwidth is limited to approx. 4MHz.
17.4. epc901-007 up to and including -018, -020, -022
• Use the the chip only according to section 12.2., Low power operation with external 3V and 5V supply. The charge pump does
not work properly for these versions.
17.5. epc901-031
• The default settings for the video amplifier common-mode feedback (register bits SC_CMFB_EN and AMP_PHY_IDLE_EN) are
not valid. The settings have to be changed to SC_CMFB_EN = 1, AMP_PHY_IDLE_EN = 1 prior the first read-out (registers
MISC_CONF and FORCE_ANA_CTRL_SIGS).
• The solder balls on the solder pads have a diameter of 270 ±20 µm.
