6.2 Hardware Modification Guidelines
For users who wish to modify the reference design, we offer guidelines below for what to expect in the modification process.
6.2.1 Alternate Footprint Parts
• Alternate type reed switch SW-1 + support circuitry.
• U7 is a SOT23 footprint for hall-effect sensor.
6.2.2 Avoid Modificaton
All changes listed here may have serious impacts on performance:
• Modifying the spacing between the U0 EM3587 and the U1 balun.
• Changing the PCB antenna length/shape.
• Changing any part of the ground pour area.
6.2.3 Bill of Material Cost-Saving Options
To further reduce overall bill-of-material (BOM) cost of this contact sensor, the following items and their supporting circuitry can be con-
sidered for removal:
• J3 programming header.
• U3 external flash.
• U5 Si7053 temperature sensor.
