The flow control hold time parameter is the length of time a flow control message is effectual (i.e. halts
incoming traffic) after being received. The hold time is measured in units of “slots,” the time it takes to
transmit 64 bytes at wire-speed. The default setting is 32 slots, or for a 100 Mbps port, approximately
164 ms.
