S-Registers
The following table gives a brief description of the available S-registers and their functions. Register range,
units and factory profiles are also listed.

Rings
S-Register
Description
Automatic answer - Number of rings until
automatic answer. If the register is zero the
modem will not automatically answer.
Factory Profiles
‘0’
‘1’
(Default at
Power up)

S1 0-255 Rings Count incoming rings - This register is read
0
0
only and contains the number of rings
detected by the modem.
S2 0-127 ASCII Escape character value - This register
43
43
Decimal defines an ASCII decimal value of the
escape character. The default setting is an
ASCII + and the escape sequence is +++. A
value over 127 disables the escape
sequence.
S3 0-127 ASCII Carriage return character - Contains the

Decimal ASCII decimal value of the character
recognised as the command line terminator.
This character will also be sent at the end of
result codes.
S4 0-127 ASCII Line feed character - Contains the ASCII
10
10
Decimal decimal value of the character recognised by
the modem as the line feed. The modem
sends the line feed character after a carriage
return only when word responses are sent.
S5 0-127 ASCII Backspace character - Contains the ASCII

8
Decimal decimal value of the character recognised as
a backspace.
S6 2-255
s

off the hook before the modem dials the first
digit of the telephone number.
S7 1-255
s
Wait for carrier after dial - Sets the length
