Table 2: CMX838 Standard CTCSS Tone Table
The following information describes important timing aspects of the various operating modes of the tone
signaling processor:
1) CMX838 clocks must be properly set up and running before any tasks can be issued to the tone
signaling processor.
2) During normal operation, tasks can be issued to the SUBAUDIO PROCESSOR GENERAL CONTROL
($93) register at a maximum rate of one task every 250µs.
a. If the tone signaling processor is in its “Fast Initialization” mode, tasks can be issued to the
SUBAUDIO PROCESSOR GENERAL CONTROL ($93) register at a maximum rate of one task
every 50µs.
3) For tasks that involve “argument data” (such as information corresponding to a particular tone), the
argument data must be loaded into the argument register first. After the argument data has been
loaded, the appropriate task should then be loaded into the SUBAUDIO PROCESSOR GENERAL
CONTROL ($93) register.
a) Once “argument data” has been passed to the argument register, no delay is required before
writing the corresponding task to the SUBAUDIO PROCESSOR GENERAL CONTROL ($93)
register.
4) After a task has been loaded into the SUBAUDIO PROCESSOR GENERAL CONTROL ($93) register,
a minimum wait time of 250µs must be observed before modifying the contents of any argument data
register.
