REGISTER READBACK
The WM8580 allows readback of certain registers in 2-wire mode, with data output on the SDO pin.
As in 3-wire mode, there are two methods of reading back data: continuous and non-continuous
readback. Continuous readback is set by writing to the Readback Control register (see Table 9) to
set READEN and CONTREAD to 1, and to set the READMUX bits to select the register to be read
back. The status of this register can then be readback using the protocol shown in Figure 10.

If CONTREAD is set to zero, the user can read back directly from the register by writing to the
register address, to which the device will respond with data. The protocol for this system is shown in
Figure 11.

SOFTWARE REGISTER RESET
Writing to register R53 will cause a register reset, resetting all register bits to their default values.
