D The FM25CL04 is a 4-kilobit nonvolatile memory
N S employing an advanced ferroelectric process. A
ferroelectric random access memory or FRAM is
E N nonvolatile and performs reads and writes like a
RAM. It provides reliable data retention for 10 years
M IG while eliminating the complexities, overhead, and
system level reliability problems caused by
M S 4 EEPROM and other nonvolatile memories.
O E L0 Unlike serial EEPROMs, the FM25CL04 performs
5 write operations at bus speed. No write delays are
C D 2 incurred. The next bus cycle may commence
immediately without the need for data polling. The
M next bus cycle may start immediately. In addition, the
E F product offers virtually unlimited write endurance.
W y Also, FRAM exhibits much lower power
R b consumption than EEPROM.
T NE ed These capabilities make the FM25CL04 ideal for
c nonvolatile memory applications requiring frequent
O la or rapid writes or low power operation. Examples
range from data collection, where the number of
R p write cycles may be critical, to demanding industrial
N e controls where the long write time of EEPROM can

FM25CL04-G “Green” 8-pin SOIC
SPI bus, which enhances the high-speed write

specifications are guaranteed over an industrial
temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
This product conforms to specifications per the terms of the Ramtron
standard warranty. The product has completed Ramtron’s internal
qualification testing and has reached production status.
