RV-3029
6.8.2.READ MODE DATA TRANSMISSION AT SPECIFIC ADDRESS
⢠With the first byte, the Master has addressed the RV-3029 in Write Mode
⢠The next byte contains the Page & Word Address. The upper 5 bits address a specific âMemory Pageâ,
the 3 lower bits are the auto incrementing address part
⢠The I2C interface communication is halted by sending the âStop Conditionâ
⢠Then the I2C interface communication is re-established by sending the âStart Conditionâ
⢠With the next byte, the Master is addressing the RV-3029 in Read Mode
⢠Then the Slave transmits the first byte starting from the previously addressed Page & Word address.
Within the same Memory Page, the Word Address will be incremented automatically by 1.
If âacknowledgeâ is not received, no auto increment of the address is executed and a following reading
transmits data of the same address
Example of Data Transmission in Read Mode after setting a specific Page & Word address
1) Master sends out the âStart conditionâ
2) Master sends out the âSlave Addressâ, ACh for the RV-3029; the R/ W bit = â0â for write mode
3) Acknowledgement from the RV-3029
4) Master sends out the âPage & Word Addressâ to the RV-3029
5) Acknowledgement from the RV-3029
6) Master sends out the âStop Conditionâ
7) Master sends out the âStart Conditionâ
8) Master sends out the âSlave Addressâ, ADh for the RV-3029; the R/ W bit =â1â for read mode
9) Acknowledgement from the RV-3029:
At this point, the Master becomes a Receiver, the Slave becomes the Transmitter
10) The RV-3029 sends out the âDataâ from the âPage & Word Addressâ specified in step 4)
11) Acknowledgement from the Master:
At this time, the âPage & Wordâ Address will be automatically incremented by 1
12) Steps 10) and 11) can be repeated if necessary. Within the same Page Address, the Word Address will
be incremented automatically
13) The Master, addressed as Receiver, can stop data transmission by not generating an acknowledge on
the last byte that has been sent from the Slave Transmitter. In this event, the Slave-Transmitter must
leave the data line HIGH to enable the Master to generate a âStop conditionâ
14) Master sends out the âStop Conditionâ
