10 Power Supply Recommendations
The device is designed to operate from an input voltage supply range between 4 V and 40 V. This input supply
must be well regulated. If the input supply is located more than a few inches from the device, TI recommends
adding an electrolytic capacitor with a value of 47 μF and a ceramic bypass at the input.
11 Layout
11.1 Layout Guidelines
Do not place any of the capacitors on the opposite side of the PCB from where the regulator is installed. The use
of vias and long traces is strongly discouraged because of the negative impact on system performance. Vias and
long traces can also cause instability.
Equivalent series inductance (ESL) and ESR must be minimized to maximize performance and ensure stability.
Every capacitor must be placed as close to the device as possible and on the same side of the PCB as the
regulator.
