25 Shaping and PA Ramping
With ASK modulation, up to eight power
settings are used for shaping. The modulator
contains a counter that counts up when
transmitting a one and down when transmitting
a zero. The counter counts at a rate equal to 8
times the symbol rate. The counter saturates
at FREND0.PA_POWER and 0 respectively.
This counter value is used as an index for a
lookup in the power table. Thus, in order to
utilize the whole table, FREND0.PA_POWER
should be 7 when ASK is active. The shaping
of the ASK signal is dependent on the
configuration of the PATABLE. Figure 32
shows some examples of ASK shaping.
