1. INTRODUCTION
3. INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL
Installation Tool 1059773-1 (Figure 1) is used to install
and remove OSP Hermetic Plug Connectors. Figure 1
also lists the available replacement head that may be
purchased from Tyco Electronics separately.
NOTE
i
Dimensions in this document are in metric units
[with U.S. customary units in brackets], unless
otherwise indicated.
2. DESCRIPTION
Installation Tool 1059773-1 contains an adjustablE
handle that allows for torque settings between 6 in.-
lbs. and 30 in.-lbs. This tool also contains a connector-
specific head assembly.
Once the tool head is adjusted for the specific
connector, the installation of multiple connectors is
made easy with a quick-release locking handle.
A collet at the end of the assembly, holds the
connector. A collet adjustment nut tightens the
connector in the collet.
The locking handle is used to secure the hermetic
style plug in place during installation, and release the
hermetic style plug assembly after installation.
3.1. Installation
1. Place the hermetic plug connector in the collet.
NOTE
i
The connector should bottom on a stop within the
collet.
2. Once the connector is in place in the collet, move
the locking handle to the closed position. This
secures the connector in the tool.
CAUTION
Do not force the locking handle closed. If the
handle does not easily close the collet tension may
!
have to be adjusted.
3. If necessary, turn the adjustment nut until the
connector is held snuggly in place.
NOTE
i
The collet adjusting nut is covered with a heat
shrink tubing to help maintain adjustment.
CAUTION Damage to the connector may result if the collet is
not properly adjusted.
