EMU3 probe
The EMU3 probe (Figure 21) has a modular design that allows you to emulate the full range
of ST7. This design is based on:
1. an interchangeable, target emulation board (TEB) that is specific to the ST7 or family of
ST7s that you want to emulate.
2. a common emulation board (CEB) and a dedicated emulation board (DEB) that are
common to all ST7. The TEB connects to the DEB, which is housed in your EMU3
probe.
The probe connects to your application board during emulation via a flex adapter and
socket. In addition, an analyzer input connector allows the connection of external devices, or
input signals from your application hardware. More information about these connections is
provided in the ST7xxxx-EMU3 Probe User Guide.

Target emulation board (TEB)
To reconfigure your EMU3 probe to emulate another ST7 or family of ST7s, simply install the
appropriate target emulation board (TEB) in the EMU3 probe. TEBs can be ordered
independently. For information about the TEB to choose, refer to the ST Product and Tool
Selection Guide. Installing and changing the TEB is described in detail in the ST7xxxx-
EMU3 Probe User Guide provided with your probe.
Application board connectors
Connectors on the TEB allow you to connect your probe to your application board, using the
appropriate flex adapter and socket. How you connect your EMU3 probe to your application
board depends on the ST7 and its package. Different application connectors are provided
with your emulator, depending on the MCUs supported by its probe. For a list of connectors
provided with your probe and detailed installation instructions, refer to the ST7xxxx-EMU3
Probe User Guide provided with your probe.
