DESCRIPTION
The L6238 is a complete Three-Phase, D.C.
Brushless Spindle Motor Driver system. The de-
vice features both the Power and Control Sec-
tions and will operate Stand Alone, or can be
used in Higher Power Applications with the addi-
tion of an external Linear Driver.
Start-Up can be achieved with the Fully-Inte-
grated Align + GO Algorithm or may be se-
quenced manually for User-Defined start-up algo-

rithms.
A Digital PLL provides high accuracy and the ca-
pability to do Master/Slave Synchronization for
Disk Array configurations.
Programmable functions include commutation
Timing Adjustment and Slew Rate Control for
peak efficiency and minimum noise.
Protective features include Stuck Rotor\Backward
Rotation Detection and Automatic Thermal Shut-
down.
