Description of Change:
Silicon Labs Si3461 product is Not Recommended For New Designs. The new recommended
product is the Si3462, a pin-compatible part with similar features and a major enhancement,
that of supporting “no classification required” forced power in Class 0/3 or Class 4. The
Si3462’s no-classify mode includes a significant bill of materials (BOM) component reduction.
While the Si3461 remains available for ordering and shipping, the Si3462 is recommended for all
new PoE single-port PSE applications and designs.
Reason for Change:
The behavior of the Si3462 is similar functionally to the Si3461, and performs better on Sifos
PoE system tests than does the Si3461. The Si3462 adds “no classification required” forced
power modes in Class 0/3 or Class 4.

Form, fit, function, quality, and reliability are unchanged.
