Tiny Real-Time Clock/calendar with alarm function and
SPI-bus
Rev. 2 â 15 April 2013
Product data sheet
1. General description
The PCF85063BTL is a CMOS1 Real-Time Clock (RTC) and calendar optimized for low
power consumption. An offset register allows fine-tuning of the clock. All addresses and
data are transferred serially via a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI-bus) with a maximum
data rate of 6.25 Mbit/s. The register address is incremented automatically after each
written or read data byte.
2. Features and benefits
ï® Provides year, month, day, weekday, hours, minutes, and seconds based on a
32.768 kHz quartz crystal
ï® Clock operating voltage: 0.9 V to 5.5 V
ï® Low current; typical 0.22 ïA at VDD = 3.3 V and Tamb = 25 ï°C
ï® 3 line SPI-bus with a maximum data rate of 7 Mbit/s
ï® Programmable clock output for peripheral devices (32.768 kHz, 16.384 kHz,
8.192 kHz, 4.096 kHz, 2.048 kHz, 1.024 kHz, and 1 Hz)
ï® Selectable integrated oscillator load capacitors for CL = 7 pF or CL = 12.5 pF
ï® Alarm function
ï® Countdown timer
ï® Minute and half minute interrupt
ï® Internal Power-On Reset (POR)
ï® Programmable offset register for frequency adjustment
3. Applications
ï® Digital still camera
ï® Digital video camera
ï® Printers
ï® Copy machines
ï® Mobile equipment
ï® Battery powered devices
