Overview
The TM-40GT8 is a member of the LambdaDriver® Optical
Transport System for use in an LD100G shelf . This module
helps service providers to meet the growing demand for long
distance and DWDM transport of 40Gbps traffic.
TM-40GT8 is a 40Gbps transponder that converts serial short
range (1550nm) 40Gbps (OC-768c/STM-256c) interface on
switches to ITU-T DWDM OTU3 / OTU3e interface capable of
bridging unrepeatable distances of up to 80km over G.652
single mode fiber. Longer distances can be reached using
LambdaDriver amplifiers and DCMs. The DWDM line port
is tunable over the whole C-band with 50GHz granularity
and uses DPSK modulation. The module supports high-gain
Enhanced Forward Error Correction (EFEC), extending the
reach up to 1000 kilometers (km) without requiring signal
regeneration.
Each transponder can be separately compensated for
chromatic dispersion by use of an on-board Tunable Dispersion
Compensator, which is very useful for long-haul networking.
The TM-40GT8 modules have the “EYEMAX” feature, which
enables optimization of receiver performance based on the
incoming signal“eye pattern”measurement.This feature can be
considered as an on-board Automatic Electronic Polarization
Mode Dispersion Compensator.
Line and Diagnostic Loopbacks functionality on access ports
is supported and serves as a crucial tool for troubleshooting
and maintenance operations in a live network. The Diagnostic
loopback function checks the integrity of the internal ports’
circuitry while the Line loopback is used to check the fiber
connections integrity.
