The LambdaDriver EM2009-GM2 Muxponders use
advanced TDM technology to transport 2 distinct 1Gbps
Gigabit Ethernet or Fibre Channel data streams into a 2.7
Gbps WDM trunk port over a single pair of fibers.
This solution provides significant cost reduction and
excellent fiber utilization in comparison to discrete optical
multiplexing.
The EM2009-GM2 incorporates 3 SFP interfaces, two for
the access ports and one for the trunk (WDM) port, that
can accommodate various types of SFPs.
Typical applications include point-to-point standalone
interconnection of 2 separate LANs (one per access
port).
The GE or Fibre Channel operational mode can be
selected by on-board jumpers and it is for both access
interfaces.
Link Integrity Notification (LIN) functionality is supported
by the modules.
The automatic Laser Shutdown (ALS) feature automatically
reduces the optical power of the transmitters to an eye
safe level in case of a broken link. The ALS feature is
implemented on both ports of the transponders (WDM
trunk and Terminal equipment access port).
The muxponders also support the Y-Cable based fast
switch-over protection protocol. In this protection mode
two adjacent transponders in a LambdaDriver® chassis
run a protocol that maintains“operational”and“standby”
transponders for a 1Gbps port of an access device.
The modules are manageable by the LambdaDriver
management module either locally by RS-232 CLI access
or remotely by Telnet, SNMP or GUI management using
the MRV MegaVision Pro management platform.
