Overview
The Fiber Driver® Dual 10-Gigabit Multi-Rate OTN Transponder
(EM316DMR10GF) from MRV is a member of the cost-effective
DMR family of multi-rate, multi-function, optical modules.
The EM316DMR10GF offers many deployment options and
streamlined inventory management. It combines software-
selectable data rates and advanced small form-factor pluggable
(SFP+) optical transceivers supporting a wide range of high-
speed protocols with G.709 Digital Wrapper and the industry’s
most advanced FEC (Forward Error Correction) encoding
choices. The compact DMR10GF quad SFP+ architecture offers
the industry’s highest density and most power-efficient OTN
transponder/repeater.
Its wide range of optical infrastructure solutions includes FEC
distance/reach extension, FEC signal repeating, and lambda
conversion of gray, CWDM, and DWDM wavelengths. The
various modes of operation include high-density dual OTN
transponder/repeater and redundant transponder/repeater for
self-healing links* in mission-critical applications.
Installing the EM316DMR10GF is quick and easy. Set the desired
operational mode in dip-switches, insert the module into
the Fiber Driver chassis**, then insert the selected multi-rate
transceivers and set the ports to the application data rate and FEC
modes. To change the connection type later, simply reconfigure
the module. The DMR10GF SFP+ multi-rate capabilities greatly
reduce the inventory needs.
The EM316DMR10GF module performs full G.709 Digital
Wrapper with advanced FEC encoding on each channel at any
selected data rate and protocol. The G.709 Digital Wrapper
provides full end-to-end protocol transparency. The addition
of the FEC encoding significantly extends the optical transport
reach and improves the OSNR while meeting commonly
expected BER performance.
