Molex’s new Micro-Fit terminal, same reliability with half the mating/unmating
force
The Micro-Fit product line has been very successful over the years. To further
build on this success, improvements have been made on the terminal side of this
product. Based on feedback from the field, customers would want a much lower
mating and unmating forces for applications using large circuit sizes. With this
objective in mind, a new terminal was developed to reduce the mate and unmate
forces significantly.
The 46235 Micro-Fit Low Force Terminal is developed in respond to this need. It
lowers the mate/ unmate forces by up to 50% as compared to the standard
43030 series.
The key to achieving this force reduction is the Dual Cantilever design of the
contacts, as opposed to the box design of the 43030 terminals.
To achieve this objective the contacts are gold plated. Gold plating produces
lesser friction compared to Tin plating, thus complementing the objective of force
reduction.
