5.3.7 GENERAL CALL
The General Call is a method that the “master” device
can communicate with all other “slave” devices. In a
multi-master application, the other master devices are
operating in Slave mode. The General Call address
has two documented formats. These are shown in
Figure 5-11.
The MCP47X6 has two General Call commands. The
function of these commands are:
• Reset the device(s) (Software Reset)
• Wake-Up the device(s)
For details on the operation of the MCP47X6’s General
Call commands, see Section 6.6 “I2C General Call
Commands”.
Note:
Only one General Call command per issue
of the General Call control byte. Any
additional General Call commands are
ignored and Not Acknowledged.
