This Switch allows the driver to switch between the crank trigger pickup and the pickup in the genera-
tor. This is a benefit when setting timing because the engine only needs to be started once. Racers
can also use this Switch to change to a different timing setting. By setting the timing of the generator
pickup a couple degrees retarded, the driver can switch from the crank trigger to a “softer” timing
setting as track conditions deteriorate.
There are three different length harnesses on the Switch. They connect as follows:
Long Harness: Connects to the Generator's Magnetic Pickup
Mid-Length Harness: Connects to the Generator
Short Harness: Connects to the Crank Trigger Pickup
The Switch must be mounted on the dash panel where the Long and Mid-Length harnesses will reach
their connections without using an extension harness. Do not lengthen these wires!
When mounting the Switch, note the flat area on the threads of the switch. When the lever of the
switch is towards the flat area, the crank trigger pickup is being used (Figure 1).
