3. Hazard Identification
Reacts with water to form Ca(OH)₂ and flammable acetylene, which forms explosive mixture with air. By contact with
water (humidity), acetylene gas with anesthetic effect is liberated. Simultaneously, very small amounts of poisonous
phosphine and hydrogen sulphide gas are set free.
Residue contains Calcium hydroxide which may cause burns.
