Description of the Change: : In an effort to make our product line more compatible with
regulatory and environmental guidelines, we are changing the volume manufacturing process for
our products to make them RoHS compliant according to Aavid Thermalloy specification RoHS
9000. (Available at http://www.aavidthermalloy.com/RoHS.shtml ).
The current version of this product uses solderable tabs that are plated with a tin-lead finish.
The RoHS compliant version will have a 100% matte tin finish per ASTM B545 with a nickel under-
plate barrier of 1.9 to 3.8 um. Product built using this new plating process is identified with a "G"
suffix at the end of the part number as shown above in Products Affected.
Scheduling of Change:
Sample Date: Please contact your local sales representative for sample availability.
Volume Production: Volume production will be available November 24, 2005.
New orders sho uld be placed for the “G” suffix product. Please adjust your current orders
so that they can be filled accordingly depending upon stock and availability.
EOL of unchanged Product: Once manufacturing has been converted to the RoHS
compliant process, it may still be possible to manufacture products with non-compliant
materials. However, products manufactured with non-compliant materials may require a
pricing adjustment due to the cost increases associated with lower volume manufacturing.
Customer Impact: Products with matte tin tabs are backward compatible with SN/Pb solder
processes.
